additional sensors
Additional sensors can be connected to any vehicle to monitor any activity such as : doors / bonnet opening and closing, hydraulic lifting etc.
alarms (tariff dependent)
Alarms are an important feature of Crystal Ball which monitor specific activity and promptly notify customers through email alerts in the following areas:

- asset management - perVestigo
- battery voltage - merlin 700
- geofence entrance and exit – inVestigo and perVestigo
- speeding
- total distance per journey
asset management
Asset Management automates the scheduling of vehicle servicing, fleet insurance, road fund license and MOT’s.
Only available with perVestigo.
battery back up
The Merlin 700 has a battery back up, ensuring that even if the vehicle battery is disconnected, status updates can still be sent.
closed user groups
Closed user groups allow customers to create different groups within their company, and controls which users have access to which groups. Available on inVestigo and perVestigo.
current and historical day log
The day log displays a summary of each journey travelled, either for the current day when looking at a live vehicle (the list appears below the live map), or for a pre-selected date range for a given vehicle. From the day log, detailed information for any given journey can be selected.
driver ID
Driver ID provides detailed information for each driver, no matter which vehicle in the fleet is assigned to them. The system will
generate reports against each driver rather than each vehicle.
email alerts
Email alerts can be set up against any alarm on Crystal Ball and can be directed to a single or multiple recipients.
flexible admin rights
Nominated ‘company administrators’ have the ability to give users within their organisation varying degrees of access and functionality allowing for a more tailored solution.
geofencing
Geofences are virtual geographical boundaries. These can be created by the user and are used to alert alarm recipients by email when a device enters or exits the geofence. Only available with inVestigo and perVestigo.
gps tracking
Crystal Ball tracking devices use gps (global positioning system) to determine their precise location and records their positions at regular
intervals. This technology is used for Crystal Ball’s vehicle tracking, asset tracking and people tracking solutions.
journey planner
The Crystal Ball built in journey planner gives the user a detailed route and map, in seconds. Only available with inVestigo and perVestigo.
journey play back
This functionality allows the customer to ‘replay’ a journey using the waypoints provided by the system. Only available with inVestigo and perVestigo in conjunction with Navteq mapping.
journey status indicator
This functionality allows the customer to instantly view the status of each device within the fleet.
live tracking
Crystal Ball is a live web based tracking system providing up to date information on all tracking devices.
location marker
It is possible to enter a location, either by name or postcode, and have the location flagged on the map. This gives a quick and easy way of checking ‘who’s closest?’ to a given point, ensuring you always select the right person every time.
nearest to postcode
Crystal Ball’s ‘nearest the postcode’ feature allows the user to determine which device is closest to a particular postcode. Only available with perVestigo.
scheduled emailed reports
Crystal Ball reports can be configured to run automatically at predetermined times with the information being directly to the intended recipient/s. Once set up the following reports can be ready and waiting when needed:
- daily locations
- geofence
- idling
- journey detail
- journey detail (excel)
- journey summary
- out of hours (excel)
- time sheets
soft install
If your business dynamics are such that you change vehicles regularly you may wish to opt for a ‘soft install’. This means the merlin 700 tracking unit is not hard wired to the vehicle and is powered by the cigar lighter.
